During the 8th Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity, ECOECO in collaboration with the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC) and other Brazilian and international scientific societies took part in a 3-day symposium on “Biodiversity: The Megascience in Focus”. ECOECO was specifically responsible for organising and presenting two panels on “Sustainability”, suggesting incentives toward conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity including payments for ecosystem services and promotion of mechanisms to protect remaining tropical forests as a means to assure synergy between climate mitigation and reduction in biodiversity loss. Proceedings were summarised and submitted as an official document to the CBD Secretariat.
