The CDAE Department is a transdisciplinary department housed in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Our mission is centered on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and we are seeking colleagues who can contribute to this mission through teaching, scholarship, and service. CDAE offers undergraduate majors in Community Entrepreneurship, Community Centered Design, Community and International Development, and Public Communication. We offer a Master of Science degree in Community Development and Applied Economics, an accredited Master of Public Administration degree (MPA), and a Ph.D. in Sustainable Development, Policy, Economics and Governance. CDAE is home to over 400 undergraduate majors and 85 graduate students.
We seek a cohort of colleagues who will advance the department’s scholarship by contributing expertise in their field with an appreciation and interest in the transdisciplinary mindsets and collaborations necessary to solve the increasingly complex problems facing society. Qualified applicants for the tenure-track positions must possess a Ph.D. at the time of appointment, a strong history or potential for applied scholarly research and publication in a field related to the position being applied for, a proven track record or strong potential to obtain sponsored funding, and a commitment to quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants for the lecturer positions must possess at least a terminal master’s degree and have a strong record of teaching and service. All applicants must demonstrate a commitment to DEI. In addition, successful applicants must have the desire to work in a transdisciplinary environment and meet the demands of a Research I aspirational university. We are especially interested in applicants with applied research interests that span applied economics, public communication, community development, food systems, rural or development sociology, public policy, and the translation of science to public audiences.
